The Death and the cannon ball, walk down the shopping mall
He’s not in hell and it’s not in the gun, enjoying their vacations in the morning sun
So what’s up beyond the halls, want to see the cat take the curtain calls
Or walk down another road, following the trace of the big, fat toad
The road stretched like a chewing gum, as I recognized it was one
I felt not really save and not really wrong, a bug at the corner just sang a song:
“So what’s up beyond the halls, want to see the cat take the curtain calls
Or walk down another road, following the trace of the big, fat toad”
Arrived at the candy-swamp, it was dark, cold, sweet and certainly damp
A deep voice was coming out of the pond, he asked me something, very fond
“So what’s up beyond the halls, want to see the cat take the curtain calls
Or walk down another road, following the trace of the big, fat toad
Come and take a walk with me through my candy-swamp and see
That pond is a melon and this isn’t a tree, so, my friend, this is not reality
And by the way, have your ever seen a speaking toad like me?”

I generally appreciate the album by album move away from hardcore towards extreme metal. Yet for me personally, this is where the balance is perfect. Kind of like Metallica's Ride the Lightning: subsequent albums were more sophisticated and complex, yet less intense, too. Great to come back to, again and again. jornfin
